Daddy picked these out for Grey-we were trying them on him and I had to snap a few pics. We love the old school feel. Adam HAD to have the Superman one and thought the Darth Vader was "cool". Grey thinks they are pretty cool too. Fun flashback for Ad and love that he can share a bit of his childhood with Grey. (We found them at the Gap in case your husband has to have one too).

The First Week of School

Well we all made it through the first week of school. It has definitely been a roller coaster. Adam and I have accepted that Lucy is big now, but I have to say I think Lucy is a bit overwhelmed by everything. I had to blog the sweet/sad thing that happened today when I picked her up from school. Lucy was yelling "Bye Ashlee" to her favorite school friend but Ashlee couldn't hear her. She yelled twice more but still Ashlee didn't hear and got into her car with her dad. For all of you that don't know Lucy well that is a majorly brave thing for her to do-to yell goodbye several times to a friend. She always waits for the other person to say hi or bye first. Anyways she turned to me and started tearing up because Ashlee never said goodbye back. Lucy was literally crushed. But that's is life and I had to explain that Ashlee just couldn't hear her. Lucy is so sensitive which is part of the reason her going to school is so hard on me. But she got over it and all is well. That is life right?

I did have to post her first assignment and brag a little. She had to circle all of the things that could be red-notice the tree? Lucy told both her teacher and me that some trees turn red in the fall. I was so proud! Notice the check plus AND the super AND the star?! What can I say she is a genius.

Lucy at her table, when I am leaving and not looking so sure that she is goning to like school much (at this point I almost picked her up and ran out of the school with her-good thing Adam was there and would'nt let me). Lucy actually let me give her a hug and kiss goodbye in front of the other kids!

Yep that's right and thanks to all those who asked how Adam and I handled it. I think we did as well as could be expected-no even better. I think it was the night before that I had emailed my sisters and told them that she has been my little companion for the last 5 and a half years-she was always with me what was I going to do with out her? I really felt like I was loosing a part of me that will never come back. Super dramatic but really once school starts it feels like early childhood is definitely over.

Adam took the day off so he could also take Lucy to her first day of school. I thought we would all cry but we didn't! I thought one of us (meaning Adam or me) would have to be dragged out of the school kicking and screaming. But we didn't! Lucy did so great and I think so did we!!! She was nervous and of course couldn't eat breakfast. She did get a good night sleep the night before though. She was excited for her new clothes and backpack but definitely scared too. She did great, she loves Mrs. Hansen, and can hardly wait to start her Spanish class (yep she gets to learn another language).

The first thing she said to me when I picked her up was "I Love School". She even learned something new the first day-that she likes peanut butter! So all in all it was a great day. We celebrated by going to Red Lobster-her fav and then a family bike ride by the lake.

PS We weren't the ONLY parents video taping her going in and coming out when school was over:)

Happy 10th Anniversary

So I thought I would post how we celebrated our 10 years. Unfortunately Adam had a crazy, hectic week so on Tuesday-the actual day-we didn't go out to a fancy dinner. But I did get red velvet cupcakes and I gave him his present, a new black titanium wedding band. Pretty smooth right?





And just yesterday I put the finishing touches on my anniversary gift. I got a new bedroom!!! We had the same set that I had since I was a little girl so this was a very exciting gift for me:) It feels like a grown up room-seriously that is like the first thing I said to Adam when it was all done. So I wanted to share some pics of my new fabulous "grown-up" room!










not sure if you can see the lights Adam-yes Adam-picked out. LOVE them, really simple and don't compete with everything else in the room.

It is so hard with pics to show you how beautiful it is because it really is a cool room and I really really love it. I LOVE the red bench-love it! And my bedspread and accessories are beautiful-I found the spread at Anthropologie and had to go back for the vase, frames, etc. because I just couldn't find anything that went with the bed-it took me 5 minutes though at Anthropologie and I was done! Any ways thank you Adam for my gift. He also got reservations for dinner that following Friday night and even found a babysitter for us. Seriously that was the best gift of all, having a quiet dinner at a nice restaurant with my husband.

Dallas World Aquarium

For our playgroup on Friday we went to the aquarium. It was so much fun and there was just so much to see. Grey did really well considering he missed both naps. We saw monkeys, sloths, birds, and lots of fish. Grey was even able to see and enjoy a lot of it. Lucy had a great time playing with her friends Sara, Lakenna, and McKinnley. But I will let her tell more about our great adventure in her blog. Grey enjoyed his buddies Erin and Clayton. It was a great way to spend our last day of summer (school starts Monday):(

The point of this tag-I need to get reading!

10 YEARS!!!!!

Ten years ago today I was watching the Beastie Boy's Intergalactic Planetary video on MTV waiting to shower and get ready for my WEDDING! That song always reminds me of my wedding I day. I know it should be something romantic, but it is so us that its not:) And that was just the beginning of our crazy but wonderful life together. The last ten years has brought with it 10 yes that's right 10 moves, 2 kids, 3 schools for Adam, 1 deployment which included Adam working on Saddam, and countless adventures hiking, biking, and camping. I love my husband because of the adventure he has brought to my life. I love how determined and goal oriented he is. If he decides to do something he does it-always. We have so much fun and at times can be a little childish-but I love that about us. Adam doesn't take himself or life too seriously. And he is the best dad. I can't wait to see what the next 10 years will bring-hopefully not 10 more moves but I'm not counting on it! I love you Ad-happy anniversary.

Stash Update:)

Its officially gone-but that doesn't mean forever. Adam had to go do a health fair or something and is starting in a new clinic so he thought it best to shave. I do have to say that I wouldn't be surprised to see it back soon-even though you HATED everything about that "thing" Mom.

You Go Girl!

We (as in me really) have slacked off this summer in Lucy's reading. So I decided to take an idea my friend Christina L had been doing with her little Sarah who is trying to have no accidents at night. It is the Super Special Surprise Box!!! If Lucy reads 7 books (sometimes less if a book is really really long I count it as two) she gets to pick out a super special surprise. I got a few Polly Pocket cars and Littlest Pet Shops that I knew she wanted and then took her to the dollar store to pick out $10 worth of prizes she wanted-including candy which is a super surprise because I am not buying it anymore, its just for special occasions. She was so excited she helped decorate the box. In the last three days we have been reading so much! She has already been able to choose 3 prizes!!! I am so proud of her and she never begs or whines for an extra prize, she only begs and whines to read. A mother couldn't ask for more!
